Tummy Troubles in Monsoon? Here's Help
Protect your little one from common monsoon digestive issues with simple steps
The monsoon season brings joy but also increases the risk of digestive problems in young children. Contaminated water, food spoilage, and increased bacterial growth make little tummies vulnerable to diarrhea, vomiting, and stomach infections.
**Keep Your Child Safe:** Always boil drinking water for at least 10 minutes and cool it before use. Avoid street food, cut fruits from outside, and leftover food during monsoons. Wash all fruits and vegetables thoroughly with clean water. Keep your child's hands clean—wash before eating and after using the toilet.
**Smart Food Choices:** Opt for freshly cooked, warm meals. Include easily digestible foods like khichdi, dal-rice, idli, and steamed vegetables. Banana, curd (if no infection), and pomegranate help maintain gut health. Avoid heavy, oily, or raw foods that burden tiny digestive systems.
**Watch for Warning Signs:** If your child has loose motions more than 3-4 times, refuses to drink fluids, has a dry mouth, sunken eyes, or seems very drowsy, seek medical help immediately. Keep ORS (oral rehydration solution) handy at home. A small sachet mixed in clean water can prevent dehydration during mild stomach upsets.
Remember, prevention is always better than cure. With a little extra care during monsoons, you can keep your child's tummy happy and healthy!
