Summer Hygiene: Keep Your Little One Fresh
Essential hygiene tips to prevent heat rashes and infections this summer
As summer temperatures soar across India, maintaining proper hygiene becomes crucial for your little one's comfort and health. The hot, humid weather can quickly lead to skin problems, diaper rashes, and bacterial infections if we're not careful.
Start with frequent baths using lukewarm water - not cold, as it can shock their system. Add a pinch of neem powder or a few drops of neem oil to the bath water for its natural antibacterial properties. After bathing, ensure your child is completely dry, especially in skin folds around the neck, armpits, and diaper area.
Choose loose, cotton clothing in light colors that allow skin to breathe. Change clothes more frequently than usual, especially after outdoor play. For diaper-wearing babies, change diapers every 2-3 hours and let them have some diaper-free time on a waterproof mat.
Keep their hair clean and consider shorter haircuts for better air circulation. Trim nails regularly as sweaty hands can harbor germs. Most importantly, ensure they drink plenty of fluids - breast milk for babies under 6 months, and water along with meals for older children.
Remember, good hygiene in summer isn't just about cleanliness - it's about preventing heat-related skin problems and keeping your child comfortable during these hot months.
