Summer Hygiene: Keep Your Little One Fresh
Essential hygiene tips to protect your child from heat rashes and infections
As March heat intensifies across India, maintaining proper hygiene becomes crucial for your little one's comfort and health. Summer brings unique challenges like heat rashes, fungal infections, and dehydration-related issues.
Start with frequent baths using lukewarm water and mild baby soap. For babies under 6 months, gentle sponge baths twice daily work well. Always pat dry completely, especially in skin folds around neck, armpits, and diaper area where moisture can cause rashes.
Change diapers more frequently as heat increases bacterial growth. Use cotton diapers when possible, and give diaper-free time to let skin breathe. For toddlers, choose loose, breathable cotton clothes and change them if they get sweaty from play.
Pay special attention to hand hygiene - wash hands before meals and after outdoor play with soap for 20 seconds. Keep nails short to prevent dirt accumulation and scratching.
Don't forget feet hygiene! Summer means more barefoot walking. Wash feet daily and ensure they're completely dry before putting on shoes. Use antifungal powder if your child is prone to athlete's foot.
Remember, good hygiene in summer isn't just about cleanliness - it's your first defense against heat-related skin problems and infections.
