Summer Bath Time: Keeping Your Little One Clean
Essential bathing tips to keep your baby fresh and healthy this summer
As summer temperatures soar across India, maintaining proper hygiene becomes even more crucial for your little ones. The hot, humid weather makes babies sweat more and increases the risk of skin infections and heat rashes.
For babies under 6 months, one lukewarm bath daily is sufficient. Use gentle, chemical-free baby soap and focus on cleaning the diaper area, neck folds, and underarms where sweat accumulates. For toddlers, you can increase to twice daily if they're very active outdoors.
Always check water temperature with your elbow - it should feel slightly warm, never hot. In summer, slightly cooler water can be refreshing but avoid cold water as it can shock their system. After bathing, pat dry gently and apply a light, breathable moisturizer.
Pay special attention to areas prone to heat rashes - neck, armpits, and groin. Keep these areas dry and well-ventilated. If you notice any redness or irritation, consult your pediatrician promptly.
Remember, over-bathing can strip natural oils from your baby's delicate skin, so find the right balance based on your child's activity level and the weather in your area.
