Protecting Baby's Skin from Monsoon Rashes
Prevent and treat common fungal infections in your little one this rainy season
The monsoon's humidity creates the perfect environment for fungal infections in babies' delicate skin. Diaper rash, ringworm, and fungal infections in skin folds are especially common during these months.
Keep your baby's skin folds completely dry—especially the neck, armpits, and diaper area. After bath time, gently pat these areas with a soft cotton towel and let baby air-dry for a few minutes before dressing. Avoid plastic pants over cloth nappies as they trap moisture. Change wet clothes and diapers immediately, as dampness is fungus's best friend.
Watch for warning signs: red, itchy patches, circular rings on skin, or white patches between toes. If you notice these, consult your pediatrician promptly. Never apply adult antifungal creams without medical advice. Use cotton clothing instead of synthetic fabrics, and ensure your baby's clothes are completely sun-dried, not just air-dried indoors.
Preventive care is simpler than treatment. Apply a thin layer of baby powder only in areas prone to moisture (not on face), ensure proper ventilation at home, and maintain good hygiene. A little extra attention during monsoon keeps your baby's skin healthy and happy!
