Protect Your Little One from Fungal Rashes
Humidity + dampness = skin troubles. Here's how to keep baby's skin healthy!
The monsoon brings much-needed relief from heat, but the constant humidity creates a perfect environment for fungal infections in young children. Babies and toddlers are especially vulnerable because their skin folds (neck, thighs, diaper area) trap moisture.
Common fungal infections include diaper rash that won't heal, ringworm (daad), and white patches between toes. These appear as red, itchy patches that may have a ring-like border or cause peeling skin.
Prevention is key! Always pat your child completely dry after bath, especially in skin folds. Change wet clothes immediately after they come in from rain or play. Use cotton clothing that breathes well. Apply a thin layer of antifungal powder (after consulting your pediatrician) in areas prone to moisture. Keep the diaper area extra dry - give some diaper-free time daily.
Avoid tight synthetic clothes during monsoon. If you notice any persistent rash lasting more than 3-4 days, or spreading patches, consult your pediatrician. Don't use home remedies or adult creams on babies without medical advice. With simple care and vigilance, you can keep your little one's skin healthy and comfortable throughout the rainy season!
