Keeping Little Feet Happy This Monsoon
Essential foot care tips to prevent fungal infections & keep toddlers comfortable
Wet shoes and damp feet are one of the biggest monsoon challenges for little ones. Many parents don't realize that keeping feet dry is crucial to preventing fungal infections, bad odor, and skin irritation in young children.
Always have at least two pairs of shoes for your toddler - canvas shoes or sandals that dry quickly work best. Avoid closed synthetic shoes that trap moisture. After coming home from outside, gently wash your child's feet with clean water and dry thoroughly between the toes using a soft towel. This simple habit prevents 90% of monsoon foot problems.
Never let your child wear damp shoes again. Place wet shoes in a well-ventilated area, stuff them with newspaper to absorb moisture, and let them dry completely. Sprinkling a little talcum powder inside dry shoes helps absorb sweat. For babies who are crawling or just learning to walk, keep indoor areas clean and dry, and use cotton socks that you change frequently.
Watch for signs of fungal infection: itching between toes, redness, or peeling skin. If you notice these, consult your pediatrician promptly. A little attention to foot hygiene now means comfortable, healthy feet for your little explorer all monsoon long!
