Drying Baby Clothes Safely This Monsoon

Prevent fungal infections and musty odors with smart laundry care tips

During monsoon, damp clothes can become breeding grounds for fungi and bacteria, causing skin rashes and infections in your little one's delicate skin. Many Indian homes struggle with drying clothes properly when it's constantly humid and rainy.

Here are practical tips to keep your baby's clothes fresh and safe: Always sun-dry clothes whenever possible - even 15 minutes of sunlight has natural disinfecting properties. If using indoor drying, ensure good air circulation with fans. Iron clothes on both sides after drying, as heat kills remaining germs. Add a few drops of Dettol or neem water to the final rinse for extra protection.

Avoid the temptation to use damp clothes thinking they'll dry on the body - this invites fungal infections, especially in the diaper area and skin folds. Store dried clothes only when completely moisture-free. Use the 'sniff test' - if clothes smell musty, rewash them. For babies under 6 months, consider keeping a separate set of clothes that you dry exclusively indoors with a room heater or dehumidifier during extended rainy spells.

Remember, your baby's skin is 30% thinner than yours, making them more vulnerable to infections from poorly dried clothes. A little extra care during monsoon goes a long way in preventing uncomfortable rashes and doctor visits.
