Beat Prickly Heat in Little Ones!
Keep your child's skin cool and rash-free this scorching summer.
Prickly heat (ghamori) is one of the most common summer complaints for babies and toddlers in India. When sweat gets trapped under the skin due to heat and humidity, tiny red bumps appear — usually on the neck, back, chest, and skin folds. It's itchy, uncomfortable, and can make your little one cranky all day.
The best prevention is keeping your child cool and dry. Dress them in loose, soft cotton clothes — avoid synthetic fabrics completely during summer. Change sweat-soaked clothes promptly, especially after outdoor play or feeding. Give a cool water bath 1–2 times daily using a mild, soap-free baby wash to gently cleanse the skin without drying it out.
For relief, lightly dust affected areas with a gentle baby powder (avoid talc-based powders near the face). You can also apply fresh aloe vera gel — straight from the plant — on the rash for natural cooling. Keeping the room ventilated with a fan or AC at a comfortable temperature (around 26°C) helps greatly.
Do NOT apply heavy creams, coconut oil, or home remedies on active rashes as they can block pores and worsen the condition. If the rash turns into blisters, oozes, or your child develops fever, please consult your pediatrician — it may need medical treatment. With simple care, most prickly heat clears within a few days! 💛
